Pathways to Music to be held in Campus & Community Children's Center
The Musical Journeys Program of the Fredonia School of Music continues its exciting new program for children and parents to discover the joys of experiencing music while singing, moving, listening, dancing, and playing. Pathways to Music, which runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 19 for the Fall 2011 session, is designed for children ages 6 months through 5 years old.
Williams Center renovation gives many temporary homes
A near-total renovation of the interior of the Williams Center is underway, with a completion target date of August 2012. Among the changes are the reopening of the building's skylights, which were part of its original I.M. Pei design, and a reconfiguration of all offices, meeting rooms, the multipurpose room and interior walls.
Incubator company, "SellingHive" expanding its horizons...and its payroll
SellingHive is growing and expanding its operations in Dunkirk as the company prepares for the launch of its new social networking software this summer. Last week the company filled three full-time positions with young professionals who graduated from universities in western New York, including two from SUNY Fredonia.
Class of '59 makes class gift a breeze!
SUNY Fredonia’s Class of 1959 dedicated its 50th anniversary gift last week, as two residential-sized wind generators were installed at the Mackie Memorial College Lodge, located in Brocton. The wind generators will reduce the lodge’s steep electric costs by 50 percent, and the green energy they provide fulfills the Class of 1959’s goal of setting a “green” example for future generations to follow.
SUNY Fredonia to host University Senate Plenary sessions April 14-16
Approximately 75 attendees representing campuses from across the SUNY system, including the Senate's 20-member Executive Committee and SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher, will meet in Fredonia for a series of meetings to discuss a variety of academic issues that are of system-wide importance. “It is a wonderful honor to be selected as a host site,” said SUNY Fredonia President Dennis Hefner. “We are excited to showcase all that Fredonia has to offer, and we welcome the chance to assist our colleagues as they perform this excellent service to our system.”
Learning Commons partnership debuts in library; focus on summer sessions
A representative from Lifelong Learning will be available at Reed Library to answer questions and help students register for Summer Session Classes, on Monday, April 11 (2 to 4 p.m.); Tuesday, April 12 (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.); and Wednesday, April 13 (1 to 4 p.m.).
World's best animated films make Fredonia tour stop March 25
SUNY Fredonia is one of 22 venues in the world to be chosen for the "Best of Ottawa Tour" from the 2010 Ottawa International Animation Film Festival. The tour makes its stop here Friday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in Jewett Hall Room 101. Hosting the event is the campus Media Arts Club and Professor Jill Johnston-Price of the Visual Arts and New Media Department.
Works of Judith Olson Gregory showing through April 3 in Art Gallery
A retrospective exhibition of works by artist Judith Olson Gregory is on display in the Art Gallery at Rockefeller Arts Center through April 3. The exhibition, entitled “Presence,” features works from the 1990s through today, including Gregory’s recent “Vestment Series.”

WNYF upgrades to HD with state-of-the-art purchase
The upgrade is the largest change to WNYF’s control room since 1997, and addressed the need for a cost-effective transition to HD production, a more organized control room, and a way to provide high-quality production services to its campus audience.
