Ted Schwalbe selected for Japan Studies Institute
Distinguished Service Professor Ted Schwalbe of the Department of Communication was selected to participate in the Japan Studies Institute held at San Diego State University June 10 to 23.
Bill Brown giving Kasling Lecture Oct. 8; Frerichs to receive Hagan honor
Dr. William Brown, a member of the Department of Biology faculty since 2001, has been named the Kasling Lecturer for the 2013-2014 academic year and will present the Kasling address on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall.
Jill Reese recipient of SUNY ITG Grant
Assistant Professor Jill Reese of the Fredonia School of Music is the recipient of a $10,000 SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant (IITG). The IITG program funds campus innovations and initiatives that have the potential to be replicated elsewhere within SUNY to benefit students and faculty across the state and worldwide.

SUNY Fredonia announces the hiring of Dr. William A. Boerner, Ed.D., as its new Chief Diversity Officer. He will begin in his new role, which reports directly to SUNY Fredonia President Virginia Horvath, on July 17.

Shannon McRae awarded NEH summer grant
Shannon McRae, associate professor of English and American Studies coordinator, has been funded by the NEH to attend a workshop at the Newberry Library in Chicago, where she will gather research material for her current book project on 20th century American spiritual tourism.
David Kinkela edits spring journal
David Kinkela, associate professor of history, served as one of three editors of the Spring 2013 issue of Radical History Review, whose theme was “Water: History, Power, Crisis.” Kinkela was joined by Teresa Meade, a Latin America historian at Union College, and Enrique Ochoa, professor of History and Latin American Studies at California State University.
