Those of all ages with creative minds are invited to submit entries in one of three categories for an opportunity to win prizes. The contest is inspired by London’s book, the 2013 Big Read selection, which presents an unforgettable adventure of humans and animals struggling for survival in a hostile wilderness.

The live television call-in show, “Talk to Santa,” will be presented on Dec. 18 and 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m. each evening. For the 22nd year, community volunteers, Information Technology Services at SUNY Fredonia, and DFT Communications have donated their time and expertise to bring Santa and Elf Holly to the homes of local viewers.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, from 7 to 11 p.m., the Center for Multicultural affairs will host The Holiday Hotspot, a celebration of diverse holiday traditions from around the world. All CMA groups will be involved in highlighting different holidays including Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Three Kings Day, Pride Parades, and Women’s Appreciation Day.

A special performance of “The Piano Lesson,” SUNY Fredonia’s first production featuring an all African-American student cast, will be held to benefit the "Keeper of the Dream Scholarship" and the Leadership Program at SUNY Fredonia. All tickets sold for the show on Wednesday, Dec. 5 will be donated to the scholarship program. All patrons of the performance will be invited to a pre-show reception with food and refreshments, and a post-show question and answer session with the cast.

Four bands, all created and managed by SUNY Fredonia students in the Music Industry Club, will compete to win 10 hours of studio recording time at GCR Audio in Buffalo during the fourth annual Battle of the New Bands on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The bands are La Vida Mia (acoustic folk), Boss Tweed (Rock), The Shockers (female rock), and I Thought I was Taller (punk rock).
