Distinguished SUNY Fredonia alumni from across the United States will convene on campus Thursday at 10 a.m. as members of the university’s Natural Sciences Advisory Council to participate in the planning phase of the new Science and Technology Center. And while they are here, four members of the council have agreed to generously offer career guidance to lab science students at a noon lunch that day in the Williams Center.

Alumni of all ages gathered with campus officials in the Cranston Marché dining complex this afternoon to honor three of the university’s most accomplished alumni and steadfast university supporters. John G. Baust, Ph.D., ’65, Kimberlee Neifer Caldwell, Ph.D., ’87, and Clifton C. Turner, ’84 were honored by President Hefner at the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon. The three were given the Outstanding Achievement Award for their special contributions to society through their careers as well as their impacts on their alma mater.
How many doors can a Business Administration degree open for SUNY Fredonia graduates? For Clifton C. Turner (’84), it’s quite a few. And impressive ones, too. He will receive the Alumni Association's Outstanding Achievement Award on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Homecoming.
"Legacies in Words and Music," a special event planned during Homecoming Weekend, is a tribute to the late Robert Schweik, Distinguished Teaching Professor of English, and to the now retired Dr.Theodore Frazeur of Brewster, MA, who founded the percussion studies program at the Fredonia School of Music more than 50 years ago.
The Fredonia School of Music is planning several special concerts for Homecoming, including the ever-popular Alumni Jazz Concert featuring jazz artists who got their start as students in the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble during the early 1970s.The concert will take place Friday, Oct. 9,. at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. Admission is free. This reunion will feature both former and current Fredonia Jazz Ensemble artists.
North Collins native and award-winning scientist Kimberlee Neifer Caldwell will deliver a seminar at SUNY Fredonia about her research into Parkinson’s Disease during the college’s Homecoming weekend on Friday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. in 101 Jewett Hall. The seminar is open to the public.
