Angeline Kimbrell, a senior majoring in Computer and Information Sciences with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies in programming, has been chosen as the February 2019 Student of the Month by the Office of Residence Life.
More than 60 graduate and professional programs – representing a variety of industries and disciplines spanning business, education, health/medicine, humanities and science – have already registered to participate in Fredonia’s Graduate School Fair on Thursday, Oct. 16, 4 to 6 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
Fredonia will hold its fall semester Activities Night on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Dods Hall Picnic Grove. The event allows students, old and new, to learn about each of the school’s nearly 150 student organizations in a single location, with the opportunity to sign up for each group.
Welcome Week, full of great activities and events for students, will be hosted by Spectrum Entertainment Board and sponsored by the Student Association. Watch a movie, see comedian Jessica Halem or play Bingo!
More than 1,400 students crossed the Steele Hall Arena stage today, receiving congratulations from President Virginia S. Horvath as they were conferred with degrees during the 187 th annual Commencement ceremony. “From this point, it’s up to you to show what Fredonians can do,” President Horvath told the Class of 2014. “We’re counting on you to use what you have learned, to continue to learn as new questions and technologies arise, and to represent your alma mater in all you do.”
Outstanding academic achievement, combined with solid facilitator and leadership skills, earned Katharine Carney the Student of the Month honors for April by Residence Life. Carney, a senior English major from Rochester, was nominated for the award by English Professor Natalie Gerber, who said Carney has been “outstanding in her academic work.”
Carl H. Lam, a senior from Hamburg, N.Y., who is concluding a banner senior year at SUNY Fredonia, has been chosen to receive the Lanford Presidential Prize, an honor that recognizes a member of each graduating class who has exhibited balanced achievement and exemplified Fredonia’s ideals.
The Counseling Center and various other campus groups will host De-Stress for Success. The initiative includes a series of events, programs and workshops designed to help students to find ways to reduce stress in a healthy, productive manner, and gain the focus they need to succeed. Events, which are free to all students, will begin Thursday, May. 8, and conclude Friday, May. 16.
Hyungsuk Kang of Sangju-si, South Korea, has been named the 2014 March Student of the Month by SUNY Fredonia Residence Life. Hyungsuk was nominated for this award by SUNY Fredonia ResNet Coordinator Tylor Cardone.
The 16th Annual Student Research and Creativity Exposition will be held on Thursday, May 1, in the William Center Multipurpose Room. The free event is from 1 to 6:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
