Over 270 SUNY Fredonia students and 21 groups will shower the streets of Brocton and Fredonia to help sell a special edition of the Buffalo News for the 2014 Kids Day on Tuesday, April 29 from 6 to 9 a.m. Volunteers will be posted up at 20 different locations to sell the special edition papers.
SUNY Fredonia’s Health Professions Club and Advisory Council will hold its first Health Professional Panel to discuss how undergraduate students should prepare for health professional schools. The event is scheduled in Houghton Hall Room 213 on Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held April 18 for the Veterans’ Lounge in Nixon Hall, set aside for student veterans and dependents of military service members enrolled at SUNY Fredonia. The dedicated space for study, socializing and programming events was established to better assist a growing number of student veterans, service members and their families in the transition from military to college life.
The Riveters, the collegiate female a cappella group, will serenade the SUNY Fredonia campus at its annual spring show on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater between Reed Library and Mason Hall. The show will open at 6:45 p.m. with the all-male a cappella group, The Guerrillas.
The College Republicans will bring New York State Assemblyman Andy Goodell to campus to meet with students, faculty, staff and members of the community on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at Williams Center Room S204A. Senator Goodell represents the 150th Assembly District.
The Italian Club, “Unione Italiana,” is hosting its fifth semi-annual Indoor Soccer Tournament from April 25 to 27 at the Steele Hall fieldhouse. Each team will play either Friday, April 25 or Saturday, April 26. The top three teams from each day will play in the finals on April 27.
Much of the floor of the Williams Center Multipurpose Room will be covered with hair for “Bald for Bucks,” a fundraiser being staged by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Sigma Kappa sorority and the Sophomore Class, on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m., to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute. SUNY Fredonia’s Hillel will be hosting multiple events celebrating Jewish History Month. Hillel will kick-off the celebration with a Holocaust speaker at its opening ceremonies on Thursday, April 3, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Williams Center Room S204ABC, funded by the Honors Program.
Four Fredonia students received awards at the 5th annual SUNYWide Film Festival and Symposium held on campus April 10 to 12. Those honored included Maisy Keller of Kingston, Kyra Slawski of Wading River, Jason Chadwick of Grand Island and Kirsten Vine of Corning.
