Kinkela participates in NEH U.S. history curriculum study group
Historians typically spend their time in the classroom teaching and in the archives researching and writing, but Department of History Professor David Kinkela joined 14 other SUNY scholars in the Adirondacks as part of a federally funded effort to reimagine the U.S. history curriculum at Fredonia and across the SUNY system.

Department of English Professor Birger Vanwesenbeeck spent part of the summer at Indiana University’s Lilly Library to research the Sylvia Plath papers. While there, he discovered a unique connection to SUNY Fredonia.

April RA of the Month honors go to two Fredonians
Two students – Erich Dickey, a third-semester Resident Assistant at Hemingway Hall, and Nyiesha Francis, a fourth-semester Resident Assistant at Chautauqua Hall – have been named Resident Assistants of the Month for April by the Office of Residence Life.

Sadie Olrogg, a junior from Springville majoring in Chemistry, has been named the May 2022 Honors Student of the Month.
Music Therapy faculty member awarded grant
Music Therapy Assistant Professor Heeyoun Cho has won a community benefit grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation to support a research project, “Therapeutic Songwriting for Persons with Dementia and Their Caregivers.”
Communications junior Bump named Honors Student for April
Alyssa Bump, a junior majoring in Communication: Journalism and Communication: Public Relations, from Cuba, N.Y., has been selected as the April 2022 Honors Student of the Month.
Cho awarded AMTA research grant
Music Therapy Assistant Professor Heeyoun Cho has won the 2022 Research Grant Award from the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Music Therapy Association for the research proposal, "The effectiveness of music-based interventions on college students' stress management."
