Christian Bernhard (School of Music) has been invited to present a research paper, "Improvisation in Instrumental Music Education: Research and Implications," at the 3rd International Conference on Music Learning and Teaching at Oakland University in Rochester, MI, March 10-12. The conference is sponsored by the university's Center for Applied Research in Music Understanding.
Tracy L. Collingwood has been named Director of Career Development at SUNY Fredonia, following a national search. She has been the Interim Director since October 2009 and has developed rapport and collaborative relationships with the campus and community.

Donald Lang is gearing up, as they say, to ride a bicycle across the country – from San Diego to his home in Dunkirk -- and he’s inviting friends and colleagues from SUNY Fredonia to come along for the ride. Not as bicycle riders, mind you, but as sponsors of “Donald Lang’s Bike Ride,” a fundraiser the recently retired choral director will mount this spring to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
SUNY Fredonia Computer Science Professor Junaid Zubair i edited with Athar Mahboub a new book on cyber security. “ Cyber Security Standards, Practices and Industrial Applications: Systems and Methodologies” serves as an essential reference to students, researchers, practitioners and consultants in the area of social media, cyber security and information and communication technologies (ICT).
Four undergraduates and Professor Seyed-Mahmoud Aghazadeh (business administration) wrote the paper, “Yield Management Practices in Western New York Golf Industry,” which has been accepted for publication in Asia Pacific Journal of Research in Business Management, forthcoming. The journal is listed at: Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, ProQuest, U.S.A. (December 2010), and Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities. Profesor Aghazadeh's students who worked on the project were: Brad Smith, Kelsey Simet, Nanako Fujise, and Bryan Drzewucki.
Fredonia School of Music faculty members Natasha Farny, cellist, and David Rose, violist, performed at the Chamber Music Festival hosted by the University of North Carolina/Charlotte in January. With the goal being to “break down the image that all classical performers are elderly Caucasian people,” the festival offered more than traditional chamber ensemble pieces. Other performers included The Harlem Quartet.
