Donato J. Tramuto, CEO of Tivity Health, Inc. (NASDAQ: TVTY), a leading provider of fitness and health improvement programs, with strong capabilities in developing and managing network solutions, will be the featured speaker at Commencement on Saturday, May 13. Ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in Steele Hall, recognizing recipients of bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and the advanced certificate.
With the spring semester about to wrap up soon and finals week just ahead, students are invited to tap into a wide assortment of events, programs and workshops designed to help them reduce anxiety in a healthy, productive manner. They’re all part of “De-stress for Success” -- 12 days beginning Monday, May 1, and ending Friday, May 12.
Dr. Mark Anthony Neal, a Duke University faculty member, author and Fredonia alumnus, will explore activism and the use of social media during a two-day Writers@Work residency on Sunday and Monday, Feb. 19 and 20.
Ethos New Music Society will bring the Chicago-based Quince Contemporary Vocal Ensemble to campus for a two-day residency that includes a concert on Monday, March 27, 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall and a lecture on Sunday, March 26, at 7 p.m.
The creativity of Fredonia students will be on display in an exhibition opening March 3 in the Cathy and Jessie Marion Art Gallery at Rockefeller Arts Center. The “Fredonia Showcase” will feature artwork by 69 students. The exhibition opens on Friday, March 3 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The reception will feature a large-scale, two-sided projection by sophomore Justin Gennaro.
Fredonia Constellation Concerts: Aligning Fredonia’s Brightest Stars, a new performance initiative to be offered by the School of Music to prospective students and their families, will debut on Friday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. A broad range of faculty and student performers will be featured in the series that continues on Feb. 3, 17 and 24 – each one coinciding with the night before an audition day of the season.
The highly acclaimed operatic rendering of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved “Little Women” will be presented in a staged concert by the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, a professional ensemble-in-residence at Fredonia, on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m., in King Concert Hall.
Judith Ivey, a Tony Award-winning actress and veteran stage director, will conduct a series of master classes with Fredonia theatre students on Wednesday through Friday, March 22-24. Ms. Ivey will also be on stage for “Conversations with Judith Ivey,” a program of conversation and introspection hosted by her brother, Fredonia Theatre Professor James Ivey, at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House.
Students can learn how to incorporate a travel adventure into their academic studies at Fredonia by attending the Study Abroad Fair on Monday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room.
The Fredonia College Symphony joins forces with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge, for Brahms' profoundly moving, Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem), on Saturday, March 4, at 8 p.m., in King Concert Hall. The performance also includes Richard Danielpour's two-movement work, “Celestial Night.”
