A representative from the Peace Corps will be visiting Fredonia on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and will have an informational table in McEwen Hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. An informational session will follow from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Williams Center Room G103C.
A special weekend-long reunion for Fredonia Chamber Singers alumni is scheduled on campus for Nov. 4 to 6. The event will bring together alumni to honor Dr. Donald Lang and Betsy Dixon-Lang, ’84, to reminisce, and to participate in a Reunion Concert on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall.
Biology Professor Jon Titus will explore “The Forest, not the Trees” at the 39th Robert W. Kasling Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2 p.m., at Rosch Recital Hall. In his talk, Dr. Titus will deliver a report summarizing his current research that’s addressing some of the many aspects of rapid changes underway in forests throughout the area. Also to be recognized at the lecture will be Dr. Natalie Gerber of the Department of English, who is the recipient of the William T. and Charlotte N. Hagan Young Scholar/Artist Award.
With the U.S. presidential election drawing ever-so-close, the timing could not have been better for Fredonia to host a lecture/discussion by Dr. Craig R. Smith, a skilled political researcher and commentator, sought-after speech writer and author, on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 5 p.m., at Williams Center Room 204.
Freedonia Marxonia, Fredonia’s tribute to the irreverent Marx Brothers, will feature a talk by a successful playwright and Fredonia alum, an exhibit devoted to Marx Brothers contemporaries and screenings of two of their most popular films.
Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix ̶ and the revolutionary style he forged during the turbulent 1960s ̶ will be explored at a lecture/demonstration on Saturday, Nov. 5, by Dr. Thomas Millioto, a Fredonia graduate who teaches and performs in New York City.
Spectrum Entertainment is organizing a couple of activities for Family Weekend, Oct. 28 to 30, and encourages the campus and community to participate in the family-friendly fun.
The Day of the Dead, or “Día de los Muertos,” will be celebrated with two events. On Oct. 31, there will be a short workshop on constructing altars/ofrendas, followed the next day with a panel discussion on "Cultural Attitudes Toward Death."
Rockefeller Arts Center presents an evening of Grammy Award-winning rock ’n’ roll featuring the piano stylings of Elton John and Billy Joel to kick off the 2016-17 DFT Communications Pops Series with“Piano Men: A Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel” on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall.

Rockefeller Arts Center studio complex on Friday, Oct, 21, at 11 a.m. at the West Entrance of the building, opposite Steele Hall.
