Hillman Opera to present "La Boheme"

The SUNY Fredonia School of Music, in cooperation with the Department of Theatre and Dance, will present four performances of “La Bohème” in Marvel Theatre at Rockefeller Arts Center. Performance dates and times are Nov. 12, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.

Yuen and Duggan will present concert of Beethoven works for violin and piano

Tuesday, Oct. 20, In the second of a four-concert series, “The Complete Works of Beethoven for Violin and Piano,” violin professor Maureen Yuen joins forces with piano professor Sean Duggan. Part three of the series will be presented on Wednesday, November 1, and the final concert of the series will be on Sunday, January 31, 2010.

Staging Fredonia's next opera is focus of Brown Bag lecture

The second Brown Bag Lecture in the College of Arts & Humanities will bring to life the thrills, chills, and backstage events involved in mounting an opera. The panel discussion entitled, “Putting It Together: The Art and Scholarship of Staging La Bohème,” will showcase selections from the opera set to open on November 12th on campus in Marvel Theatre. The talk will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 4, noon, in Diers Recital Hall in Mason Hall (this is a new location for the series).

Concert by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will feature Cello Professor Natasha Farny

The SUNY Fredonia School of Music Rosch Musical Art Series will present its fourth annual collaborative concert with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) on Friday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus. The world-class symphony will be led by JoAnn Falletta, acclaimed by The New York Times as “one of the finest conductors of her generation.” YouTube carries an interview with Natasha Farny.

Rosch Musical Arts Series opens with The Verdehr Trio

The SUNY Fredonia School of Music kicks off the 2009-2010 Rosch Musical Arts Series with an afternoon performance by internationally renowned Verdehr Trio. The event is Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. This unique and dynamic ensemble will perform an eclectic mix of old and new. Members of the ensemble will talk about each piece from stage, creating an open and warm atmosphere in the concert hall.
