Students plan a quintet of programs Feb. 6 - 10 to promote Music Therapy Awareness Week

The Music Therapy Club will host its annual Music Therapy Awareness Week from Feb. 6 through 10. The awareness week will open with professional therapist Erica Iocco’s presentation on her private practice on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Mason 2018. An annual interactive recital will conclude the week-long event on Friday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Diers Recital Hall. The entire set of programs is open to the public with free admission

Renowned marimbist to perform tonight in Rosch

Leigh Howard Stevens, Hall of Fame marimba player, will perform in Rosch Recital Hall on Monday, Jan. 23, at 8 p.m.. He will give a master class prior to that at 4 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1080. Hailed by TIME Magazine as “the world’s greatest classical marimbist,”Leigh Howard Stevens will perform repertoire that ranges from the Preludes and Fugues of J. S. Bach to original marimba works written expressly for him.

Campus Jury Prize for classical guitar goes to Mario Rubano

The inaugural Oasis Guitar Jury Prize at the SUNY Fredonia School of Music has been awarded to Mario Rubano, a Pennsylvania native pursuing degrees in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Therapy along with a minor in Psychology. The Oasis Guitar Jury Prize, the first scholarship at SUNY Fredonia designated for Classical Guitar students, was launched by Dave Hepple, founder of Oasis, Inc., creator of the Oasis Guitar humidifier and humidifiers for other string instruments.
