The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator is hosting a certification course this spring for business professionals of any industry who are interested in improving their company’s performance. The Certified Lean Professional (CLP) course educates candidates in the continuous improvement methodology of reducing waste.
The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator’s newest resident, Worldwide App, Inc. (Worldwide), is looking to bring hometown independent (“indie”) filmmakers from across the U.S. to Hollywood for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make their dreams come true. The company is establishing its east coast headquarters in the incubator — just in time for the public launch next month of its mobile application, which will allow users to access independent films from their devices and vote for their favorite filmmakers to advance in an “in-app” competition.
The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator has welcomed its newest business, AVtick, an audio- and voice-based social media and networking company. AVtick brings the sound of audio to mobile-based social interactions and, more importantly, makes personal interactions easier to share, more engaging and more personable. New York State Senator Catharine M. Young has announced she has secured $100,000 in the 2013-2014 state budget towards operating the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator so it can continue to grow fledgling businesses and jobs.
The incubator’s first graduate, Textivia, was represented by co-owner Dave Christopher, who shared his company’s future plans to grow. Textivia moved from the incubator into Dunkirk office space in October and has since hired five employees to serve its more than 100 clients. Other Incubator businesses that showed off their accomplishments last week included AVtick, Silicon Wolves Computing Society, STASH Sporting Goods and V3 Studios.
The Center for Sports Skills Measurement & Improvement (Center for Sports) CEO Kevin Morse and iKoss Consulting CEO Jennifer Koss will both participate in the 13th annual award ceremony which honors the best and brightest companies and individuals in the region’s technology community.
The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator will host an “Open House” on Tuesday, April 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. All business, campus and community members are invited to attend this event, which is free and open to the public. The open house will feature current incubator tenants, employees and interns, including the chance to meet and interact with them personally. Tours of the building will be offered at 4:30 and 5:15 p.m., and Incubator Director Robert Fritzinger will give a brief presentation at 5:50 p.m. At least eight tenant companies are scheduled to participate.
The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator recently hosted a community gathering featuring Sam Hoyt, regional president of Empire State Development and former New York State assemblyman, who gave a presentation on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2013 State of the State address.
As part of a partnership with University at Buffalo’s TCIE (formerly The Center for Industrial Effectiveness), the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator at 214 Central Ave., Dunkirk, NY, will once again host the Certified Lean Professional (CLP) course during spring 2013 and offer three new courses.
M&T Bank is providing $75,000 over a five-year period to the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator to help cover general operating expenses and giving $20,000 to support of the Keeper of the Dream Scholarship program. The two gifts were arranged with the assistance of Josh Heim, vice president of Government Banking at M&T Bank’s headquarters in Buffalo; and Linda Niedbalski, vice president-branch manager of the M&T Bank office in Fredonia. The $75,000 incubator contribution is among the largest gifts ever made by M&T Bank to the Fredonia College Foundation.
