The Faculty Student Association is accepting program account applications for the 2018-2019 academic year (June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019). Funding may be available for events or initiatives that benefit the campus community.The application deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 13, at noon.
The Learning Center, which provides free tutoring in virtually all subject areas, is now hiring students to become part of the College Tutoring Services staff in the 2018-2019 academic year. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 9, at 4 p.m.
A new round of support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and their family members will be held at the Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders, beginning in late February.
Information about Gilman Scholarships – the application process, how to write a winning essay and prepare for an international study experience – will be offered to students at workshops to be held at the Williams Center Room S204E on Monday, Feb. 19, 3 p.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2 p.m.; and Friday, Feb. 23, 11 a.m.

Dr. Myron Glick, whose Jericho Road Community Health Center provides care for refugees and low-income residents in Buffalo, will bring his unique insight into medicine and careers in the medical field at an informal session hosted by the Health Professions Club.
It is nearly 11 years since Dr. Albert A. Dunn, a beloved member of the Fredonia Department of English, passed away. His legacy has been celebrated for the past nine years on campus at a ritual of spring known as the “Day of Poetry and Prose.”
Governor Andrew Cuomo allocated $4 million to SUNY in 2017 as part of the Excelsior Scholarship Program to promote the use of Open Educational Resources (OER). As part of Fredonia’s Strategic Enrollment Management plan (SEM), the campus Textbook Affordability Committee developed a process to solicit, review, and award small grants for faculty to adopt OER for their classes.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) campus Steering Committee invites faculty, staff, students, and community members to attend an open session on Monday, April 9 at 3 p.m., with Ellie Fogarty, vice president for the Middle States Commission, to discuss the purpose, process, and timeline of Fredonia's MSCHE re-accreditation.
On Tuesday, April 3, the Department of Philosophy Department is sponsoring the talk, "Why I am not a Buddhist" by faculty member Dr. Dale Tuggy. The event is slated for 5 p.m. in the Kelly Family Auditorium in the Science Center, and is free and open to the public.
The Applied Communication Association is hosting its annual public speaking competition in the Kelly Family Auditorium in the Science Center on Wednesday, April 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. Any student can participate and can speak on an informational or persuasive topic.
