Kent Knappenberger and friends scholarship benefit concert slated for May 5

Fredonia alumnus and GRAMMY award-winning teacher-musician Kent Knappenberger will be joining Fredonia performers and friends for a concert benefiting the Knappenberger Scholarship, on Thursday, May 5 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. All proceeds from the event will benefit the scholarship, established through the Fredonia College Foundation.

WNYCO features two Ludwigs in Bach ‘double’

The Western New York Chamber Orchestra (WNYCO), a professional ensemble-in-residence at Fredonia, will feature guest violin soloists Michael and Rachael Ludwig in its “Chords and Cords” concert on Sunday, April 3, at 4 p.m. in King Concert Hall. The Ludwigs will perform J.S. Bach’s famous Concerto for 2 Violins in D minor, BWV 1043, as well as a work composed by WNYCO Artistic Director Glen Cortese.

Fredonia Dance Ensemble concert event April 8 to 10

The Fredonia Dance Ensemble has a well-earned reputation for entertaining audiences by displaying the diversity, beauty and strength of dance. The ensemble will build upon that reputation again this season with its annual concert from April 8 to 10 in Marvel Theatre.

Musicians to share insight about their craft

Denny Laine, an original member of the Moody Blues and an integral part of Paul McCartney’s former band, Wings, will join Fredonia alumna Mary Ramsey and John Lombardo, members of 10,000 Maniacs, at an informal discussion on Tuesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m., in McEwen Hall Room 202.

Kaleidoscope Family Series welcomes Grammy-nominated duo

The Kaleidoscope Family Series continues in March when Rockefeller Arts Center presents a musical performance by Grammy-nominated duo, Trout Fishing in America, on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The event is being held in this special location due to the ongoing renovation of Rockefeller Arts Center.

Faculty Recital: James Welch and friends

Fredonia School of Music faculty will be performing together in a recital featuring 20th century art songs, spirituals and romantic operatic selections on Friday, March 4 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Philadelphia concertmaster to give master class

Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1999, violinist David Kim will work with members of the Fredonia violin studio in a master class setting on Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Spectrum Presents Concert Series: COVER UP

Students looking for an evening of entertainment are invited to join Spectrum as they present the first concert series of the semester called COVER UP on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 9, in the Williams Center Mulitpurpose Room. The concert is free to all campus and community members and will be the first of three musical entertainment events presented throughout the semester by Spectrum.
