Sage Golisano, a Public Relations major at Fredonia, has received a Gilman scholarship to support a study abroad experience at the University of Ghana during the fall semester.
Two support group meetings for stroke and head injury survivors and their family members will be held during the summer at Fredonia's Henry C. Youngerman Center for Communication Disorders.

As he addressed the Class of 2019 at Fredonia on May 18, Dr. Shaun C. Nelms felt commonality with the graduates sitting before him in Steele Hall. “You will be expected…to leave a lasting impression on the world,” Dr. Nelms said. “I understand this transition too well…as a proud graduate of the (Fredonia) Class of 1999.”
Commencement 2019 at Fredonia will be live-streamed and will begin at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, including of both ceremonies in the Steele Hall arena combining undergraduate and master’s degree and advanced certificate graduates. When students at Fredonia complete Medical Technology courses, fulfill graduation requirements and pass the national certification exam, they’ll be positioned to hit the ground running – straight to a high-paying job. In fact, all 10 students on track to complete hospital internships in August already have multiple job offers on the table.

So well-received was Living History Day a year ago at Fredonia that the early American presentation will return to the campus on Thursday, May 30, with more sessions, a larger student turnout anticipated and a new state museum award in tow.
“Among the Hemlocks. Fantastic Stories from Fredonia, NY,” a documentary by Department of Communication Assistant Professor Roslin Smith, will be screened at the University Film and Video Association's 73rd annual conference in July.
