Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) turned in her third double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 boards in the Fredonia women's basketball team's 64-53 win over Brockport.
The divers dominated and swimmer Sam Rokos (Delanson/Duanesburg) won two events at Grove City on Saturday as the Fredonia women's swimming and diving team fell to the Wolverines, 144-124.
The Fredonia women's basketball team improved to 4-1 in conference play and 9-3 overall, cruising to 74-54 win at Potsdam. Sarah Sweazy (Rochester, N. Y./Rush Henrietta) led the Devils with 14 points off the bench as the freshman showed her scoring touch over the weekend. She had 13 point in a win over Plattsburgh on Friday. Sweazy also led the Devils with three steals.
Ian Helps (Bronx /Greater New York Academy) poured in 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Fredonia men's basketball team earned a 79-69 victory over Potsdam on Saturday. Kareem Brown (Brooklyn/Brooklyn H.S. for Law & Tech) had 16 points and Kasean Jackson (Ridgewood/Grover Cleveland) added 13 points and four assists. Dante Williams (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) was the fourth player in double digits with 10 points.
Senior Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) dominated play on both ends of the court Dec. 30 as the Fredonia women's basketball team turned back Pitt-Bradford, 84-50. She put up 26 points on 11 of 14 shooting and grabbed 19 rebounds, 17 coming on the defensive end. The numbers were career highs for Macaulay. The State University of New York Athletic Conference also selected her on Jan. 4 as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The new year will welcome a new round of public ice skating lessons at Fredonia, with instruction offered for skaters of all ages and skill levels, beginner through advanced. Cost for 10 weeks of instruction and the concluding spring show is $90.
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y.) is second in the country in field-goal accuracy, according to NCAA Division III women's basketball stats released Dec. 15. The senior forward has made 68.6 percent of her attempts - 48 of 70 - through the first eight games of 2015-16.
Fredonia completed its weekend sweep of Daniel Webster with a 6-1 win Saturday in men's hockey. Freshman winger Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, Calif.) and his linemates combined for nine points in the lopsided affair. The Blue Devils outshot the Eagles, 60-12.

Fredonia had two firsts, three seconds, and one third at the RIT Early Season Invitational indoor track and field meet.
