Steps for Starting an Internship
Steps to Starting the Internship Process
Check Eligibility:
- Check the list of pre-requisites to see if you are eligible to do an internship in your area of interest.
- To do an internship, you must also be available to attend the internship seminar class (PSY479) on Tuesday from 4-4:50pm in the Fall 2019 semester.
- If you have any questions about doing an internship, or your eligibility, contact Dr. Denton (lisa.denton@fredonia.edu).
Prepare Your Application:
- Visit the Psychology Department internship webpage which has a link to the application. Download and complete this.
- Create a resume (for tips for putting together a resume, you can visit Fredonia's Career Development Office website). Submit (by email or hardcopy) to Dr. Denton.
- Go to “Your Connection” and create a copy of your academic transcript which shows all coursework completed to date and your GPA. Submit a copy (by email or hardcopy) to Dr. Denton.
- The application, resume, and transcript must be submitted to Dr. Denton by APRIL 12th.
Complete the Process:
- Wait for the Dr. Denton to contact you regarding an interview at a potential interview site.
- If the interview is successful, you will then complete an internship contract with the site.
- You will need to register for PSY479, which is a 3-credit course (permission to register will be granted by Dr. Denton).
- You and your internship site supervisor will determine your internship schedule.
