Men of Color Summit
The Annual Men of Color Summit
The 2022 Men of Color summit was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The Men of Color Summit educates, empowers and motivates our students to strive for excellence in education. Students, faculty and staff engage in the needs and issues that specifically men of color face; and how those issues intersect with their academic and professional careers. During the summit, participants have the opportunity to learn from and engage with professional leaders, who have navigated through these very issues, while also highlighting their success. The summit is a unique networking opportunity for participants to learn from each other by participating in workshops, a networking fair and engaging with professional men of color, who are leaders in their respective fields, and learning from each other.
-
Participants will address systemic, social structures that inhibit men of color from achieving high success in their educational careers.

We hold two concurrent presentation/workshop sessions and workshop presentations are 1 hour long, including time for Q&A. Depending on the amount of accepted applications and/or the anticipated participation, we may ask some presenters to provide their workshop during both concurrent sessions. We are planning for an in-person summit, however, it is subject to change if there is a significant increase of COVID-19 cases.
Presentations/workshops fall under the following categories:
- Professional Development
- Success: Academic, Professional, or Personal
- Personal Finance

Students are able to apply. Students may present on topics like undergraduate/graduate research or work/internship opportunities and lessons learned that align with the presentation categories listed above.
Networking Fair Information
The summit is a unique networking opportunity for participants. As part of the summit, we hosted a Networking Fair segment, which connects the attendees with businesses or organizations that promote their current research, internship and/or job opportunities.
