New No Cost Insurance Available for Faculty/Staff Traveling Internationally

SUNY Central came up with a new (no cost) insurance package for all faculty/staff for work-related international travel.  SUNY Central asked all campuses to appoint a contact person for the program that faculty/staff could contact before and during travel should the need arise. V.P. Horvath asked me to be that contact person.

In order to provide faculty/staff with this information, I need to know who is traveling. Since everyone has to fill out a regular travel authorization form that is signed by chair (regardless of who is funding travel), it seemed to make the most sense for department secretaries to let me know who is traveling internationally. That is why they were sent the simple additional form for international travel. This form is available on the right side of this web site.

A two-page description of the new insurance program which also includes some information about supplemental health insurance plans is available from

Interested faculty and professionals are encouraged to participate in one of our weekly webinars. Each deals with a topic germane to the 2013-2014 competition, from regional and discipline information to how to fill out an application. For more information, visit our website at http://www.cies.org/Webinar/.   The application deadline for most awards is August 1, 2012.  U.S. citizenship is required.  For other eligibility requirements and detailed award descriptions visit our website at http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/us_awards/ or contact us at scholars@iie.org.
