The Certified Archivist designation has been earned by Coordinator of Special Collections and Archives Amanda Shepp, after passing the rigorous Academy of Certified Archivists examination this past summer.

In order to qualify to take the exam, one must prove a sufficient amount of archives-related work experience, formal education and continuing education, and must also pass a CV review before having an application approved to take the examination.

The archival certification examination is only offered once a year during the Archives*Records conference and was seen as a notoriously difficult test of one's archival knowledge and skills in eight professional competency domains, according to a coordinator at the National History Museum at the University of Kansas, who formed a study group to prepare for the test.

Likewise, writers of several blogs describe extensive study measures they followed in order to prepare to take the test.

Mx. Shepp received a High Pass score to become an Academy Certified Archivist.
