Two alumni will be recognized during Homecoming Weekend, slated for Oct. 14 to 16, with Outstanding Achievement Awards – Cecilia (Howe) Fordham, ’59, and Sean Kirst, ’81. Many other activities are planned for the weekend.
When “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band comes to SUNY Fredonia to perform on Wednesday, Oct. 5, one of “Fredonia’s own” will be part of the show.
Alumnus Randy Blood will give an invited talk, “The Upper Devonian Shale Succession of Western New York: Insights into the Role of Shale in an Electric Future,” at Houghton Hall Room 132 on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 12:30 p.m.

Homecoming 2021 at SUNY Fredonia presents opportunities, challenges and celebrations. Alumni William E. Finn, ’83, and the Honorable William K. Taylor, ’97, will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Jennifer Cody, a veteran of Broadway, film and television who earned a B.F.A. in Acting at SUNY Fredonia in 1991, has returned to campus as choreographer of “The Wild Party,” the first show of the 2021-2022 Walter Gloor Mainstage Season.
Receptions have been scheduled in both Fredonia and Dunkirk to mark the release of “Canadaway Creek-Western New York,” a new soft-cover book that presents an extensive survey of Canadaway Creek compiled by SUNY Fredonia faculty, students, emeriti, alumni, and community members.
Two veteran FBI employees who are also SUNY Fredonia alumni, Deneen Hernandez, ’86, and Lisa Mapes Matsumoto, ’90, will return to campus for “Finding the Truth: Careers with the FBI,” a two-day Writers @ Work residency/Convocation event to be held Oct. 14 and 15.
