Quality music experiences for students of all ages:
The Musical Journeys Program is a division of
the SUNY Fredonia School of Music. Founded in 2005, the mission is to provide
quality musical experiences to students of all ages in Western New
York. Fredonia's students and faculty work together to give
a broad range of individual instrumental and vocal instruction as
well as activities through summer music programs, the New Horizons
Band of Western New York, the Chautauqua Children's Chorale
and other ensembles.
The School of Music has a commitment to outreach and to expanding and deepening its involvement in the community.
The concept of "musical experiences for all ages" is
the backbone of the Musical Journeys Program and leads us to provide
activities for children, pre-college teens, adults and seniors.
Wherever you find yourself fitting into the program, we hope that
you will take advantage of the opportunity. As the program grows
and becomes further established, new components to the program will
be added. We welcome your ideas, too, as we work toward these goals.
The School of Music at Fredonia is renowned
for its achievements in performance and the quality of its curricula.
The students in the School are competitively selected in a rigorous
admission process, and only the best students in advanced stages
of their degree programs will be authorized to teach in Musical
Journeys. For you, we endeavor to provide experiences in the creative
arts that will stimulate learning skills, enhance self-esteem, provide
a sense of accomplishment and reward, and enrich an appreciation
for the arts.
