Burning trash is now
prohibited statewide in all cases. DEC recommends that you recycle all
appropriate materials (such as newspaper, paper, glass and plastic) and compost
your organic kitchen and garden waste.
The DEC website provides Questions and Answers regarding new Open Burning Regulations that go into effect October 14th, 2009.

August 2009: Power It Down Day August 27th
Microsoft joins Citrix, HP and Intel in government and industry efforts to power down computers and peripherals on August 27, 2009. We need your help in our commitment to save energy. On August 27, power down your computer, monitor, and printer at the end of the day. We’ll calculate the number of people who Power IT Down, and post the results on this page. Plus, we’ll donate a portion of the cost savings to the Wounded Warrior Project. Do it for the environment. Do it for the next generation. But first, do it just for one day.
