The Professional Development Award for Teaching and Learning

The deadline for the Spring 2012 award has passed.

The Faculty Professional Development Award Program provides support for professional development activities related to instructional design or the exploration of instructional methods to enhance student learning. Funding is available, but not limited to, the following types of professional development activities related to teaching and learning:

Travel to conferences and conference fees
Enrollment in online courses or seminars
Subscriptions to relevant publications
Training for specialized or advanced certifications
Tuition reimbursement
To bring an expert or consultant to campus
Partial funding for course release (up to $1500) is available to those receiving matching funds from their departments (must be supported with a letter from your department chair)
Funds must be used within one year from announcement
This award does not fund equipment or materials

Eligibility:

SUNY Fredonia acknowledges that faculty are teachers, scholars, professionals, and lifelong learners. To that end, these awards are meant to provide faculty (full-time, part-time, adjunct), librarians, and professionals who have teaching responsibilities with opportunities for personal/professional/scholarly advancement that enhance and expand their knowledge and skill.

Preference will be given to:

Tenure-track faculty or professionals in their first 5 years of employment at the professional level at SUNY Fredonia
Faculty and professionals who have not previously received the award
Those who develop materials or methods that can be used by others in the same discipline or across campus and will assist other faculty in adopting more effective means of teaching and learning.

The Professional Development Center Board awards this with a grant from the Fredonia College Foundation. The PDC Board is responsible for reviewing applications and making award recommendations to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who grants the awards on behalf of the Fredonia College Foundation.
