Katie Nolan

-Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences from SUNY Fredonia
-Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences from SUNY Fredonia

SUNY Fredonia is my alma mater for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, thus, I hold a true appreciation for the campus and the community. I am a highly motivated Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to enhancing quality of life for individuals experiencing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing challenges. My clinical practice is rooted in evidence-based assessment and treatment, with a strong passion for collaborative, person-centered care across the continuum of settings. Since graduation, I have enjoyed supervising graduate clinicians and having undergraduates shadow me as a Medical Speech-Language Pathologist.

I have extensive experience working with geriatric populations across a wide range of settings, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, psychiatric units, nursing homes, medical rehabilitation units (MRU), intensive care units (ICU), group homes, and day habilitation centers. This diverse background has strengthened my ability to support medically complex individuals and adapt care to meet each person’s unique needs.

At SUNY Fredonia, I am an Adjunct Professor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as a Clinical Externship Instructor. Courses I have taught include:
• Medical Speech-Language Pathology (Fall 2020, Fall 2021, Fall 2022)
• Motor Speech Disorders (Summer 2023, Summer 2024)
• Speech Pathology I (Spring 2023)
• Speech Pathology II (Fall 2023, Fall 2024)

A lifelong learner, I am a six-time recipient of the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) to further support patients and families navigating complex care needs.

In addition to my clinical work, I integrate animal-assisted therapy through my certified therapy dog, Mac, a golden retriever accredited through the American Kennel Club (AKC). Together, we provide comfort, motivation, and emotional support in a variety of therapeutic and community environments. Mac’s certifications include:
• Canine Partners Special Listing – Therapy Dog
