Daniel Lendzian

M.F.A., University of Texas at Austin

Daniel Lendzian, an assistant professor at SUNY Fredonia and an Artistic Associate at Alleyway Theatre, has over twenty years of experience in both classical and contemporary theater as an artist, author, and educator. With a Master's in Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and certification as a Pilates Instructor, he brings a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to theater. At SUNY Fredonia, he teaches a variety of disciplines, including acting, directing, devising, Shakespeare, and scene study, guiding emerging artists to discover their unique artistic voice.

Daniel has authored and devised numerous original works. He established a three-week theater devising program at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the historic site of the 1969 Woodstock festival. His experience extends to roles as a public and private educator at notable institutions like Interlochen Arts Camp, PLAY Theater, Sitka Fine Arts Camp, SUNY Sullivan, and Kean University.

His extensive performance career includes collaborations with renowned theater companies and participation in hundreds of shows on international, national, and regional stages, including FESTA Theater in Florence, Italy, Parallel 45, NACL, Farm Arts Collective, The Seattle Children’s Theater, The Shakespeare Theater of NJ, ZACH Theater, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, O’Connell and Company, Starring Buffalo, Interlochen Shakespeare, and The Weathervane Repertory Theatre. He directed the world premiere of Burst at Alleyway Theatre, which was published by Dramatic Play Publishing. 

As the host of Buffalo Rising's WNY Soundstage podcast, he actively engages with and promotes the artistic community, highlighting diverse artistic voices. Dedicated to continuous professional growth, Daniel is currently pursuing certifications in the Michael Chekhov technique and the Alba Technique, ensuring that his teaching methods remain innovative and relevant.
