Discover SUNY Fredonia’s history with a low-key scavenger hunt for buttons showcasing unique “points” in Fredonia's past!

The event celebrates Fredonia’s 200 years of higher education and American Archives Month, which takes place every October, by encouraging the campus community to engage with Reed Library's archives in a more hands-on way than usual.

Two hundred pinback buttons, each with a unique image from materials in Reed Library’s University History Archives, will be placed around campus for the campus community to find on Friday, Oct. 16. The buttons will be “hiding” in place throughout Homecoming Weekend, or until found – whichever happens first! If a button is found, it is the finder’s to keep!

A guide of available button images and their histories, as well as clues to where buttons are located, will be available on the Reed Library website throughout Homecoming weekend.

Participants can also use the button guide to “claim” when they’ve found a button so that others will be aware of the number of buttons that are left to be found. Students, faculty, local community members and alumni are welcome (and encouraged!) to participate. Happy searching!
