Elizabeth Booth
Elizabeth Booth has been appointed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul to the SUNY Fredonia University Council.
Ms. Booth is a retired nonprofit and public-sector professional with over 30 years of leadership in higher education, workforce development, and non-profit and private sector management. She served as Director of the North County Center of Jamestown Community College (JCC) in Dunkirk for eight years, and prior to that as Director at the JCC Foundation. Ms. Booth also served as Executive Director of the 1891 Fredonia Opera House from 2001 to 2005. Other professional positions include Marketing Manager for the Pepperidge Farm Company and a consultant with Longview Marketing.
Ms. Booth’s leadership experience beyond higher education includes serving as a volunteer and member of the board of directors of Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. She is also a member of the Coalition of Chautauqua County Women and Girls, and the Women’s Giving Circle. Ms. Booth served a term as president of the board of directors of the Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce, an organization she served from 2013 to 2021. She has also served as a member and vice president of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, and as a volunteer with the United Way of Chautauqua County and the United Arts Appeal.
Ms. Booth, of the town of Arkwright, earned a B.A. in Communications from Fordham University and completed a webmaster certificate program at Penn State – The Behrend College in Erie, PA.
The University Council is an oversight body including nine members appointed by the Governor, plus an elected student representative.
