Faculty and staff invited to virtual meetings with Middle States Review Team

As part of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaccreditation process, the State University of New York at Fredonia will welcome the Middle States visiting team virtually on April 27 to 29. 

The visiting team is composed of the following members from various institutions accredited by Middle States.

  • Dr. Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, President, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Middle States Visiting Team Chair
  • Dr. Melanie Carter, Associate Provost, Undergraduate Studies, Howard University
  • Dr. Dorothy Echols Tobe, Chief Planning Officer, Ramapo College of New Jersey
  • Dr. Sara A. Grove, Professor, Department of Political Science, Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania
  • Dr. John Kilmarx, Associate Vice President for Academic Administration, Indiana University of Pennsylvania
  • Dr. Joseph Marchetti, Professor Emeritus, School of Education, Stockton University
  • Col. Gerald Kobylski, Director of Institutional Effectiveness (G5) and Professor of Mathematical Sciences, United States Military Academy
  • Dr. Phillip Ortiz, Assistant Provost for Undergraduate and STEM Education, SUNY System Administration

The Fredonia self-study prepared as part of the accreditation process is available online.

Three Institutional Priorities were identified in the self-study:

  • Continuous Improvement through Integrated Planning and Assessment
  • Equitable and Inclusive Student Success
  • Financial Sustainability

Open virtual sessions will be held with the review team. Faculty and staff have been given information via university email about participating in the sessions, and instructions for accessing the virtual sessions.

The Open Staff Session will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 9 a.m.

The Open Faculty Session will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 11 a.m.

On Wednesday, April 29, at 11:00 a.m., a final summary of the team's review and recommendations will be presented to faculty and staff.

Distinguished SUNY Fredonia alumni — Reginal “Reg” Spiller, who is President and CEO of Azimuth Energy LLC and CEO of subsidiary Azimuth GIS-E, and Tim Zulawski, who is President of AMB Sports and Entertainment — will be the keynote speakers for Commencement at SUNY Fredonia.
