Dr. Seungbak Lee
Dr. Seungbak Lee recently had a book chapter published on analytical approaches for unstructured data in physical activity and health.
The chapter, titled “New Analytical Techniques for Unstructured Data in Physical Activity and Health,” was authored by Dr. Lee, an Assistant Professor of Sport Management in the School of Business at SUNY Fredonia, along with Ju-Pil Choe and Dr. Minsoo Kang.
The chapter is included in the edited volume Physical Activity, Health and Emerging Technologies, published by Routledge. The eBook version was released on April 21 and is currently available online.
The chapter addresses the growing importance of unstructured data, such as text, images, and video, which now account for a large proportion of modern digital information. Recent estimates suggest that approximately 80 percent of digital data is unstructured, making new analytical approaches essential for research and practice.
The work provides a comprehensive framework for analyzing unstructured data in physical activity and health research. It introduces key methodologies, including natural language processing for text data and computer vision techniques for image and video analysis.
