Dr. Michael Clarkson-Hendrix presented at The Salvation Army Anew Center's Annual Healthy Relationship Conference on Sept. 17.

Dr. Clarkson-Hendrix is an associate professor of social work in the Department of Sociocultural and Justice Sciences.

The conference was held at Jamestown Community College's Sheldon Center and Carnahan Building. Its theme was, "Strengthening Families to Reduce Interpersonal Violence." Clarkson-Hendrix's presentation was titled, "Neurodiversity and Healthy Relationships: Creating Neurodiversity-Affirming Family Environments."

Presentation participants learned about the concepts of neurodiversity, neurotypicality, and neurodivergence. These concepts were then applied in health family relationships. Several suggestions to support neurodiversity-affirming family relationships were presented.
