First session of Summer School and other early terms

All classes for the first session of Summer School will be conducted exclusively in a Distance Education format.

A decision about classes for the second Summer School session will be made at a later date. The decision regarding resumption of face to face classes will be based on the health and safety of students and faculty.

May Term, Summer I, and Summer Extended courses will be offered in one of two ways.

• Courses that are coded as Online will continue in this format as planned. These courses are offered asynchronously, meaning all interactions can be completed on the students’ schedule, but within the deadlines set in the course.
• Courses that were originally scheduled to be offered face-to-face on campus will be changed to be offered “Remote.” This instructional method will allow students to do much of the work asynchronously but may also require them to meet virtually each week. These meetings will take place via webinar software and the days and times will be announced in advance. Students will be expected to participate in course activities including discussion boards, quizzes, paper submission, and other types of activities. When students look in Your Connection to register for Summer classes it will note that the “Place” is either “Internet Based Course,” meaning online, or “Remote Instruction,” meaning just that.
• Faculty are working toward offering non-classroom based learning in a remote format. This means internships, independent studies and practicums will occur as scheduled, where possible. Of course, some disruption will occur depending on the availability of appropriate alternative educational experiences.
