An event organized by the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA) at SUNY Fredonia raised more than $1,000 for the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.

SEFA sponsored a “Food Truck Day” on May 9 in the Jewett Hall parking lot on the Fredonia campus, featuring seven different food vendors and open to students, faculty, staff and the community.

Kellie Sacilowski, chair of the Fredonia SEFA Committee, said the event raised $1,040 that was recently donated to the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.

“Everyone really enjoys the food truck events here at Fredonia,” Sacilowski said. “SEFA was pleased to be able to organize the event and have the proceeds go to a worthy organization like the United Way.”

Daniel Siracuse, community relations coordinator for the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County, said the organization was very appreciative of the donation from SUNY Fredonia.

“The United Way is extremely passionate about creating positive change in the community, and with the support of local organizations such as SUNY Fredonia, it only makes our mission that much easier to fulfill,” Siracuse said.

The New York State Employees Federated Appeal is a charitable program through which state employees may give to a variety of charitable organizations. As a whole SEFA has raised more than $103 million statewide since 2006 to benefit 1,721 different agencies.
