SUNY Fredonia alumnus Anna Pingitore is helping to stock Reed Library’s Seed Library that serves the campus and surrounding community.

A member of the Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club, Ms. Pingitore, a member of the Class of 2014, has donated approximately 2,000 packets of seeds that include a variety of fruit and vegetables to the seed library.

With that donation, the seed library now boasts over 150 varieties of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flower seeds that are available to library patrons. The collection is located near the library’s main entrance. Seeds are organized in a card catalogue cabinet.

The seed library was founded in 2022 with the goal of providing free vegetable, herb and flower seeds to the campus and community and relies solely on donations. For a complete list of seeds available, visit the seed library webpage

Pingitore, who majored in Visual Arts and New Media: Photography and Visual Arts and new Media: Graphic Design, owns Choose Violets, a business focused on native seeds and growing and harvesting native plants. The Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club meets the second Saturday of each month at the Senior Citizens Center in Silver Creek, NY, and hosts an annual Garden Faire. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 16.
