Reed Library Special Collections and Archives has purchased two series of original correspondence, one written by Stefan Zweig to Felix Wittmer, and the other written by Friderike Zweig to various correspondents.

Newly-discovered occurrences of original correspondence written by Stefan Zweig are exceedingly rare, and the nine new letters has doubled the holdings of original correspondence written by him that are held in Special Collections and Archives at SUNY Fredonia.

The purchase was enabled through the Reed Library Special Collections and Archives Endowment of the Fredonia College Foundation, which was created from the sale of the Niko Pirosmani painting in 2019. Both collections of correspondence cost just under $15,000 in total. The endowment is intended solely for the improvement and enhancement of the Reed Library Special Collections and Archives.
