Anna Talbot and Tylor Cardone, of the ITS Service Center, display her certificate of achievement upon being named Student of the Month.

Anna Talbot, a senior from Fredonia majoring in Business Administration: Marketing, has been named Student of the Month for March by the Office of Residence Life.

Tylor Cardone, manager of the ITS Service Center, nominated Ms. Talbot, who has a 3.57 GPA and is very active on campus, for the award.

According to Mr. Cardone, Talbot worked with members of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership honor society to create a workshop on conflict resolution that was attended by sorority members and RAs. Talbot shows commitment to her job at the ITS Service Center by working 20 hours a week and also working there when classes are not in session.

“My professors take the time to learn about me and then even come to me with opportunities [relating to] my interests and prepare me for the future,” - Student of the Month Anna Talbot

In addition to duties at the ITS Service Center, Talbot is president of the campus chapter of the American Marketing Association which presents biweekly meetings designed for marketing majors and others to practice their skills and prepare for post-graduation.

Talbot partnered with the Career Development Office to facilitate resume, LinkedIn and Career Expo readiness workshops. She also reached out to have guest speakers such as a graphic designer, a local small business owner and a recent successful graduate talk to the club. Despite how involved and busy Talbot is, she remains in the Honors Program and has been placed on the Dean’s List for five semesters.

When asked about her favorite things about Fredonia, Talbot stated that she loves her professors’ curiosity about her interests and goals.

“My professors take the time to learn about me and then even come to me with opportunities [relating to] my interests and prepare me for the future,” said Talbot, who also has minors in Theatre Arts and Arts Administration. “That connection is something I knew I would not have been able to receive at a larger college.”

Her plan after graduation is to get a position at a marketing and advertising agency where she can continue to grow. She hopes to someday explore her entrepreneurial side and start her own business.

The Student of the Month program was implemented in 2003 to recognize students who are well-rounded, excel in their academics and contribute positively to the campus and community. If you would like to nominate a student, please visit online.
