The study investigated the experiences of disabled social work students, faculty, and staff in Council on Social Work Education accredited programs.
A photovoice-inspired approach allowed participant creativity in sharing their experiences through a medium that felt most comfortable to them.
The project found three themes across participant experiences, which were structural ableism to disability justice, managing symptoms to interdependence and internalized oppression to disability pride.
Dr. Clarkson-Hendrix plans to integrate this material into his social work courses.
