The Walter Gloor Mainstage Series returns in 2026-27 with the musicals “Cabaret” and “A Little Night Music” among its offerings.

The series, which is presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance, will open with “Cabaret” from Oct. 23 through Nov. 1 in the Robert W. Marvel Theatre of Rockefeller Arts Center.

Set in Berlin, Germany in the 1930s, “Cabaret” follows the relationship between an American writer and an English nightclub singer against the backdrop of the Nazi rise to power.

With a book by Joel Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the musical earned multiple Grammy Awards in 1966 and 1998. In addition to the title song, popular songs include “Don’t Tell Mama” and “Maybe This Time.”

Performance dates and times are Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.

In April 2027, the series will offer six performances of Stephen Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music.” With a book by Hugh Wheeler, the musical follows the romantic entanglements of several couples in turn of the 20th century Sweden. It is based on the Ingrid Bergman film “Smiles of a Summer Night” and features the tune “Send in the Clowns.”

Performance dates and times are April 29, 30 and May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Marvel Theatre.

Other 2026-27 Mainstage events will be:
