“The Kickoff Party and Drag Show Bingo are back this year after the overwhelming success of those events last year. Seats are limited so guests should purchase tickets while they are still available,” said Office of Campus Life Associate Director Rachel Martin.

“We hope that guests will also venture downtown Fredonia to see Rockin’ the Commons by Fredonia Radio Systems, another tradition hosted by a longstanding campus club,” Ms. Martin added.

The popular Kick-off Party, quite fittingly, launches the weekend on Friday, beginning at 6 p.m., with upbeat family friendly music and heavy hors d’oeuvres in the Williams Center outdoor patio. New to the gathering will be the Music Industry Club’s Amp It Up. The student Karaoke Club will also be a part of the evening.

Members of SUNY Fredonia’s faculty, staff and administration will attend and meet with parents and other guests. Festivities on the patio continue until 7:30 p.m.

Later that evening, the Concert Band – comprised of a unique mixture of music majors, students from all academic disciplines and community members – will present a free concert in the Harry A. King Concert Hall at 8 p.m.

More than a dozen events will fill Saturday.

Breakfast & Game Show, serving up free breakfast pizza while supplies last, will be held in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Be sure to bring your smart phone to play Game Show.

Numerous student dance and music groups will then perform in the Multipurpose Room, beginning at 11 a.m. Admission is free.

A Barbeque Lunch, serving picnic favorites such at a choice of hotdog, hamburger, cheeseburger, turkey burger and Beyond Burger, or salad, with chips, cookies and beverage, will be held at the Williams Center patio from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Student music bands will perform in Amp It Up, coordinated by the Music Industry Club, in the Williams Center Blue Lounge from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free.

An informal “mix and mingle” with campus leaders will be held in the Gregory Hall Grove gazebo from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free.

There will be opportunities to take family photographs, using a fun backdrop, to be posted on social in the Blue Lounge, beginning at noon.
Two athletic matches will be held at 1 p.m. The women’s soccer team will play Canton at the University Stadium grass field, while women’s tennis will host SUNY Cortland at the tennis courts adjacent to Dods Hall. Both events are free.

Family Kickball will be played at Gregory Hall Grove, beginning at 2 p.m.

Rockin’ the Commons, a venerable fundraiser put on Fredonia Radio Systems and showcase of student band performances, CD sales, basket raffles and family activities, will be held in Barker Commons in downtown Fredonia, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

A Family/Friends Dinner will be served in Cranston Marché from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Blue Devil Gaming, offering guests the opportunity to play a variety of games with club members, will be held in Williams Center Room S204 from 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be furnished. It is a free event.
