School of Music faculty member and contralto Lynne McMurtry performed multiple concerts in July with pianist Alison d’Amato as part of the Vernon Proms Classical Music Festival at The Landing Church in Vernon, and the Mary Irwin Theatre in Kelowna, British Columbia.

McMurtry performed on an all-Bach concert as well as giving a solo recital. A special event of the latter was the world premiere of a song cycle commissioned for Ms. McMurtry, “All The Wild Worlds,” composed by Nicholas Ryan Kelly.

A second performance of the solo recital scheduled for the Mary Irwin Theatre in Kelowna could not be viewed by a live audience due to the worsening of COVID-19 pandemic in the area, but was recorded and streamed later on the proms’ media outlets.

McMurtry is a founding faculty artist of the Vancouver International Song Institute.
