Pi Day to be celebrated March 9

The 23rd Pi Day celebration at the State University of New York at Fredonia is slated for Thursday, March 9 on campus.

The event’s theme is, “FRED MATH Presents: Pi School Musical.” Members of the campus and community are invited attend the celebration from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 209.

Pi Day is March 14 (3-14, like the first three digits of pi) and SUNY Fredonia's Department of Mathematical Sciences plans to celebrate a few days early due to the campus break.

Teams will compete for the coveted Pi Cup and win “cool t-shirts that money can't buy!” Based upon the Disney classic movie “High School Musical,” teams will audition for a spot in the finals. Singing, dancing, and math will all be encouraged and all at the same time.

Distinguished SUNY Fredonia alumni — Reginal “Reg” Spiller, who is President and CEO of Azimuth Energy LLC and CEO of subsidiary Azimuth GIS-E, and Tim Zulawski, who is President of AMB Sports and Entertainment — will be the keynote speakers for Commencement at SUNY Fredonia.
