The SUNY Fredonia campus sprang to life as the incoming first-year class, the graduating Class of 2027 moved into residence halls across the university Thursday morning.

The cohort is part of the 950 first-year, transfer, and graduate students joining SUNY Fredonia this fall.

The demographics of the Class of '27 are impressive: The entering class includes eight valedictorians and four salutatorians. Three out of every four incoming students are receiving university Merit scholarships, while another 13 percent of students have been awarded Honors Program scholarships.

“We’re so excited to have the Class of '27 join us on campus,” said Fredonia President Stephen H. Kolison Jr. “This class is continuing a tradition of students who come to SUNY Fredonia for an exceptional higher education experience in a supportive, inclusive environment. I’m proud to welcome them to the Big Blue Family.”

In addition to the majority of students from New York state, the class also has representation from 21 states and eight foreign countries.

The incoming class spent their first weekend on campus getting to know each other during campus activities like back-to-back movie nights, lawn games, trivia, and a late-night breakfast celebration.
