The Lausanne Project draws its name from the longest-lasting of the post-World War I peace settlements, the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne. The agreement redrew borders and forcibly displaced over a million people, all in the name of peace.

Lausanne programs provide a forum for scholars to share research on relations between the Middle East and the rest of the world.
