Lucas West performing on "Go Big Blue Day" in King Concert Hall.
Join Lucas West and mentors, faculty James Harrington and Dr. Nick Weiser, to hear about his experience on “The Voice.”
The event is slated for Thursday, April 23, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in Mason Hall Room 1075, and is open to the public.
Lucas, a senior in the Jazz Studies program and a participant in the Honors Program, will address his preparation for the experience, and what's in store next for him. A short panel conversation will be followed by a Q&A. The program will be capped off by a performance and reception.
Department sponsors include the College of Music, Theatre and Dance and the Fredonia Honors Program. The event sponsors include the Steinberg Honors Endowment held by the Fredonia College Foundation, and the College of Music, Theatre and Dance.
Dr. Sarah Hamilton noted, “As interim Dean of the College of Music, Theatre and Dance, and on behalf of my colleagues and students, we are excited to see Lucas move forward with his dreams. We are so glad to have been able to support him in this journey, and so very proud of all the work he has put in, and the very talented artist he has become! Dr. [David] Stringham, the former Dean of the CMTD and who first welcomed Lucas to Fredonia, would be thrilled.”
Dr. Natalie Gerber, coordinator of the Honors Program, noted, “Watching Lucas on ‘The Voice’ reminds us how to be: present, grateful, exuding joy at the privilege of the hard work — our own and our mentors' — that has prepared us for this moment. What the world is discovering is the Lucas we know: someone who celebrates everyone's success and who elevates experiences by the quality of his attention. Thank you, Lucas, for being part of Team Honors and Team Fredonia!"
