New master plan designer picked for 2011 Contractor of the Year

The consulting firm that developed the new Facilities Master Plan that will guide development of the SUNY Fredonia campus for the next 10 years was announced as recipient of the university’s 2011 “Contactor of the Year” award at a Nov. 21 luncheon held at Cranston Marché to honor contractors for their work on projects during past year. Overall construction activity on campus during 2011 included 30 major projects, valued at $15 million, which engaged 94 different contractors -- including 83 from Western New York and 28 from Chautauqua County.

At first meeting, President Hefner reports on new initiatives and promotions are announced

Campus Report publishes the remarks made by President Dennis L. Hefner at the All-Campus Meeting on Friday, Aug. 19, as the Fall Semester opened at SUNY Fredonia. Dr. Hefner announced new initiatives, summarized top achievements of the past year, the status of many construction projects, financial issues, new titles and promotions of staff, and announced his 2012 retirement.

Day care center architects given Contractor of Year Award

Flynn Battaglia Architects, PC, of Buffalo was honored as the 2010 Contractor of the Year at SUNY Fredonia for its design work on the newly-completed Campus and Community Children’s Center. The annual luncheon on Nov. 23 also recognized companies who worked on campus projects during the past year. Representatives of over 50 companies were welcomed.

Young donor raids piggy bank to support new child care center

Three-year-old Riley Grey Smith Mallon visited the Fredonia College Foundation House in late December to make a generous donation to his “school,” the Campus and Community Children's Center (CCCC) at SUNY Fredonia. He wanted to support the fundraising project for the new center, under construction on Temple Street.
