The Fredonia Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is one of 117 STEP projects across New York State, funded by the New York State Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Access, Support, and Success (OPASS).
This program seeks to increase the number of economically disadvantaged (as defined by NYS Opportunity guidelines) grade 7-12 students who are prepared to enter college and improve their participation rate in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields, and the licensed professions.
The Fredonia STEP Program currently serves eligible students in ten districts across Chautauqua, Erie, and Cattaraugus County.
If you are part of one of the ten participating school districts listed below, you can apply to be part of STEP. Please ask your guidance counselor or STEP advisor for an application.

To be eligible you must meet one of the criteria listed below in addition to being a New York State resident and being enrolled in grades 7-12.

- The student is a ward of the State or a county.
- The student is eligible for free or reduced lunch at his or her secondary school based upon family income (verified by the school).
