SUNY Fredonia was well represented at the SUNY Pride March as part of the NYC Pride Parade held June 28.
Junior Andrea Ramierz reported on the day, noting, “The parade was an amazing experience. I live on Long Island, so I was able to take a train into the city, and from there walk to where we had to be for the parade…It took about 2 hours to fully march the route, but the parade itself didn't end until around 6 p.m.”
Andrea is a double major in Music with a track in Entrepreneurship, and International Studies, and also Station Manager at Fredonia Radio Systems. She estimated there were about 70 SUNY students, plus SUNY staff, faculty, and the SUNY Pride band, building the group to around 110 participants. Andrea added, “It was so amazing to see so many SUNY students marching together, as well as seeing so many SUNY staff and faculty from across the state, including the Chancellor, marching with us, and showing the support for the community. It is definitely a day I will never forget.”
Two additional Fredonians were selected to participate in the event.
