Alumna and performer Anne (Barr) Martinez to visit campus

Fredonia alumna Anne (Barr) Martinez, ’01, a singer, dancer and actor currently working in Las Vegas, will be on campus as a visiting artist at Fredonia on Saturday, April 23.

Ms. Martinez will be offering a dance call, a singing workshop and hold a Q&A for all Department of Theatre and Dance majors and minors. The dance call will be held in the Dods Hall Dance Studio from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the singing workshop (accompaniment provided) will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The singing workshop will take as many singers as can be accommodated in the time allotted. Students are encouraged to come with their best 32 bar upbeat selection or 32 bar ballad. The day will conclude by 4:30 p.m.

Martinez holds a B.F.A. in Acting and a master’s degree in Theatre Practice from the University of London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Past regional and national tour credits include Millie in “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” Polly in “Crazy for You,” Lucy in “Jekyll and Hyde,” Fastrada in “Pippin,” Cinderella in “Into the Woods,” Ellen in “Miss Saigon,” Amneris in “Aida,” Sally Simpson in “The Who's Tommy,” Cinderella in “Cinderella,” Evelyn Nesbit in “Ragtime” and “Patty” in Grease. She has also performed for Holland America and Princess Cruises on various cruise ships around the world as a lead vocalist. Las Vegas credits include: Lead Vocalist in “Pin Up,” “Dancing Queen,” and “Bite,” and Swing Vocalist in “Showstoppers,” “Fantasy” and “Zombie Burlesque.”
