Irene Wheeler will be the guest speaker for a “Every Child Matters” event on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The gathering is slated from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Blue Devil Lounge in the Williams Center.
Organizers note that “Every Child Matters” is an opportunity to honor and remember Indigenous children who were taken from their families and communities and to learn about the lasting impacts of the residential school system.
The event is a time for reflection, education, remembrance, and supporting the continued work of truth and reconciliation. Organizers invite the campus and community to attend the event, listen, learn and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
The event is sponsored by the Native American Student Union club and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
